God gave us the greatest gift of all—our minds and the ability to think, to learn, to create, and to IMAGINE whatever we desire. Most of us spend at least part of our day daydreaming about the kind of life we would love to live. I know I am a huge daydreamer. I have been this way since I was a young girl growing up in a small town in northern West Virginia. I would sit in my bedroom for many hours imagining being an actress on a Broadway stage or a super star in a blockbuster Hollywood movie. I fantasized about dancing in a music video or having my own dance studio. I envisioned owning a platinum record for my talents as a great rock singing star and having many fans following me around all the time. As I grew older, I then made believe that I was a famous and successful fashion and jewelry designer. My days of wishing to become an actress, a professional dancer, and a singer have vanished for the most part, but being a designer is something I still visualize in my mind often. I absolutely love the world of fashion and consider myself to possess a good sense of style. Maybe this is one reason why I have started to design inspirational t-shirts. Of course, as an English teacher for many years, I dreamed of having enough time to sit down and actually find the time to write and use the writing skills and techniques I taught to my students. This imagination has turned out to be a reality. I have written my first book; I write poetry and blogs and create inspiring Youtube videos now; soon I will attempt to write my first short story. The idea has been implanted in my head so now I must find just the right time to start creating the words to tell this story.
My mind is constantly imagining more and more things. I am a world traveler, but I continue to imagine seeing the lands I have not visited yet: the outback and koala bears in Australia, the many sheep farms and the magnificent landscape of New Zealand, the Amazon River and the Rain Forest in South America as well as the beautiful coastline of Rio de Janeira. I want to climb to the top of Macho Picchu, view Mt. Everest, and walk inside the exquisitely breath taking Taj Mahal in India. Riding on an elephant, taking a helicopter flight over Tanzania, and sailing around the world in a cruise ship are close to the top of my fantasy list.
I have even imagined myself as a great inventor at times. It would be so amazing to be the one who found the cure for all forms of cancer or to invent a way to become totally fit and healthy without the need for the gym or exercising which I reluctantly and unhappily do at my gym five days a week. I wish I were smart enough to create that one fitness pill a day that could do this. I joke about this often at my gym with my friends there. I fantasize about being able to transport myself to other places with the blink of my eyes and so wish I could manufacture a time travel machine like the ones in the science fiction movies. The possibilities of new inventions are endless, and I dream of being one of these unique people able to create something spectacular and beneficial to the world.
Imagination makes it possible to experience a whole world inside the mind. It gives the ability to look at any situation from a different point of view and to mentally explore the past and the future. In your imagination, you can travel anywhere in the speed of light, without any obstacles. It can make you feel free, though temporarily, in your mind from tasks, difficulties, and unpleasant circumstances. A developed and strong imagination does not make you a daydreamer and an impractical person. On the contrary, it strengthens your creative abilities and is a great tool for recreating and remodeling your world and life. This is a great power that can change your whole life. It is used extensively in magic, creative visualization, and affirmations. It is the creator of circumstances and events. When you know how to work with it, you can make your hearts’ desires come true. If you do not recognize the importance of the power of the imagination and let it run wild in your life at times, your life may not be as happy and successful as you would have wanted it to be. For this reason, I will continue to imagine and dream and believe that some of my imaginings can actually become realities if I work hard enough to make them come true. I wish the same thing for you.
So now it is time for you to think and daydream. What does your mind imagine? What do you want to do? Where do you want your life to lead you? Your imagination can help direct you to your goals and dreams. Imagination can become reality. I wrote this poem in one of my many moments of daydreaming. Maybe your dream or dreams can be found in my IMAGINING…

Imagination is a wonderful thing.
It allows you to become anything.
You can pretend you are a great and creative inventor
Or a famous sculptor with your work in a popular art center.
You can imagine walking down a runway as a model, beautiful and tall,
Or being the world’s best athlete in the sport of professional football.
Maybe you want to be an actor in a sold-out Broadway play
Or sing and dance with a famous band in a video one day.
Your dream could be to become a gifted doctor who has the talent to heal
Or a brilliant businessman who successfully makes the world’s best deal.
Perhaps you hope to be a hero one day and to save a life,
Or maybe you would be content to be just the best mother and wife.
Whatever you imagine in your mind and in your heart,
It could one day become a reality if you make a plan and start
To not only imagine but to believe your imaginings can come true,
So work really hard and trust in the amazing, hidden power in you.
