As of April 1, my new blog site is on my new website http://world-gate.net/peoples/RandiDward/. I also create inspirational and educational Youtube videos under my channel name Randi Ward. Check them out when you have time please.
At the end of the Great Depression in the 1930’s, about 25% of American adults made New Year’s resolutions. However, now around 40% do. The problem occurs though in trying to keep them and fulfill them. Intentions to do this are usually honest at the time they were made, but as time progresses through the year, many of the resolutions fade away. A 2007 study at the University of Bristol involving 3000 people showed that 88% of those who set resolutions failed.
Many of us share the same popular goals:
Improve physical well-being: eat healthy, lose weight, exercise more, stop smoking
Improve mental well-being: think positive, laugh more, enjoy life
Improve finances: get out of debt, save money, make new investments
Improve career: better job performance, a better job, start your own business
Improve education: better grades, better education, learn something new, read more
Improve self: become more organized, reduce stress, manage time
Take a trip
Volunteer more
Improve social skills
Make new friends
Spend more quality time with family members
Settle down: get engaged, get married, have children
Try foreign foods, discover new cultures
Pray more, be closer to God, be more spiritual
I think we will all agree that these are wonderful goals. Why are many of these resolutions never achieved? Maybe it is because we are not connected to our purpose. Therefore, our goals are not in line with that purpose. The purpose of every person is to be the best he can possibly be. Once he begins to connect with this idea, it is likely that he will do much better at achieving his goals, and thus, follow through on all of his New Year’s Resolutions.
Ok, I have not made written resolutions for many years because I am notorious for breaking them, but this year I will try it again.
Resolution #1—To become fit and healthy again…The last two months have been difficult since I have suffered from a knee problem and have not been able to do my five days a week gym exercise program.
Resolution #2—To continue to work on promoting my book and to find a successful way to get my new books published by regular publishing companiesResolution #3—To work hard to make my new nursery school in Egypt with my partners Samar and Haitha
Resolution #4—To travel to some exotic place with my husband Bill…. We really need to take a holiday together.
Resolution #5—To continue my writing and possibly begin a fictional novel and/or write a song
Resolution #6—To continue to support my favorite environmental projects in Africa and my international friends whenever and however I can
So on January 1, I will begin the process of achieving these six very important goals. I will work hard and do my best to complete them successfully…….:-)
