My last two blogs discussed the benefits of owning a pet and the process of selecting the best pet for your family and lifestyle. Today will simply be a poem I wrote about one of the special members in my family now. Our sweet and beautiful female Saint Bernard Anna Belle has brought unimaginable joy and entertainment into our family. My husband Bill and I spend many hours each and every day sharing our lives with her. Therefore, I will honor her today with this special poem I wrote about eight months ago.
PRINCESS ANNA BELLE

Who is fuzzy and hairy and does not always smell so pleasant?
Who is so loving and cuddly and in our heart always present?
Who is the one who can always make us happy and want to smile?
Who is the one who can make us stop and just sit with her for a while?
The answer to these questions is so easy for us to tell.
It is our very sweet and adorable Princess Anna Belle.
Anne Belle is our Saint Bernard dog, a very large breed,
But she always acts like a small baby in such dire need
Of so much attention and our special tender loving care,
But this causes us no problems because it is only fair.
Her sweetness and devotion bring us so much delight
So we truly and sincerely love her with all of our might.
Anna Belle has a great sense of humor and makes us laugh out loud.
Her superior intelligence for a canine always makes us feel proud.
She thinks she is a great watch dog and in ways we must agree.
She has certainly scared many a squirrel up a very tall tree.
She loves to bark at neighbors and is not fond of the UPS man,
But once she gets to know a person well she is kind to that human.
Anna Belle loves to play crazy puppy-like games and have fun,
And she really enjoys sitting outside in the fall in the cooler sun.
She will initiate a game of tug and pull with her front yard ropes
And try to help me open my packages because she always hopes
That what is inside is something special for her alone
Like a cute doggy toy or a huge and delicious dog bone.
When she wants to be, Anna Belle can be quite a funny little tease,
She hides from us in the house, jumps out, and tries to catch our knees.
She also thinks it is so cute to carry away my husband’s tools and drill.
You can see the smile on her face to know this really gives her a thrill.
But most of the time she really tries so hard to please in her special way
Because she knows she is loved by us so much each and every day.
Anna Belle is called our princess for more than one reason.
We spoil her so very much in each and every season.
We keep our home so cool on every hot and cold weather day
Because Anna Belle cannot tolerate the heat in any way.
She eats large amounts and the finest foods-salmon, turkey, and steak.
We plan her diet very carefully; none of her meals are a mistake.
She also has her own private room with her soft rug and comfy bed.
Her imported bed from Canada is huge with a thick plush bedspread.
It is made of nine inches of micro-foam and is strong enough for a human,
And above her bed to help to keep her cooler is a big, powerful fan.
She comfortably lies in her bed after dinner to enjoy her evening treats.
For Anna Belle could not go one day without having lots of her sweets.
Anna Belle has become our big baby as anyone can easily see.
She certainly brings us so much entertainment, love, and glee.
She is definitely an extremely important and essential family member,
So there is never a moment or time that we do not remember
How much we love her, treasure her, and need her by our side.
Our strong and true feelings for her we could never ever hide.
