One of the messages of my book revolves around that all important word LOVE. Every day on television and radio and in newspapers and magazines, we are exposed to so many examples of HATRED and crimes committed against innocent people. It has gotten to the point that I try to avoid this exposure to the news whenever I can. It always saddens me because I try to remain as positive as I can each and every day of my life. I pray often that people will open up their hearts to others and try to live good and honest lives. I know the world will never be perfect; a utopia is an unrealistic dream of mine. However, I do dream that more people will join me in my quest for international brotherhood and sisterhood and learn to love and respect each other.
Below is a poem I wrote one day when I was reflecting on this horrible thing called HATRED. I sincerely hope you share similar feelings about it.
THE SADNESS OF HATRED
By Randi D. Ward
Why do people have to find reasons to hate others?
Why can’t we just accept each other as sisters and brothers?
The world would be such a much happier place
If we could just learn to embrace the human race.
It is not so hard just to look the other way
When things upset us and simply walk away.
But some evil people only want to hate
They refuse to understand or try to relate
To other people who are from another place
Or even attempt to meet them face to face.
It is a time for each one of us to look deep into our hearts
And try to find ways to make new starts.
We must reach out our open arms and hands
To unfamiliar people in faraway lands.
The world is becoming much smaller each and every day
So we cannot wait; we must begin this mission today.
If we don’t, more and more innocent people will be hurt or die.
Thus, we good people really need to do our best and try
To bond together for the common good of all
That is preventing us from loving our fellow man
And remember none of us are perfect; we are all human.
