Our
world is struggling in so many ways in 2020. Support and love for our fellow
citizens around the world is desperately needed. My message today will center
around KINDNESS in this poem I recently wrote.
KINDNESS
by Randi D. Ward
Kindness
can be shown in a genuine smile
Taking
time to comfort a lonely person for a little while.
Helping
an elderly person get safely across a busy street.
Saying
a friendly hello to all the strangers we will meet.
Kindness
is babysitting for a single, working mother for free.
Discovering
a place that needs reforesting and planting a tree.
Making
dinner for a family in desperate need.
Picking
up trash on a beach is also a kind deed.
Kindness
can be found in everything you do and everywhere you look.
Kindness
is so much more than its definition in a dictionary book.
An act
of kindness can seem so simple and small in our eyes,
But
can miraculously lift the spirit of its recipients to the skies
Kindness
is not about prejudice or falsely judging others.
It is
about treating others like your sisters and brothers.
Kindness
is not about getting people to do what you want them to do.
It is
about doing unto others as you would want them to do to you.
Kindness
is generosity, consideration, and caring.
Kindness
is being friendly, showing warmth, and sharing.
Kindness
brings people together for the benefit of all.
Kindness
can break down a barrier and remove a wall.
Kindness
improves the quality of one’s life.
It can
eliminate those moments of stress and strife.
It is
beneficial in increasing happiness and enhancing a healthy heart
And
has been shown to slow down the aging process from the start.
Kindness
will require one to be brave and strong.
It
will be required every day and all year-long.
Some
people feel kindness is a sign that one is weak.
It
will be essential to ignore this unfair personal critique.
As a
final comment, in the Holy Bible,
Ephesians 4:32 states Be kind to one
another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Let us
all do at least one act of kindness each and every day.
God
bless all of you and keep you safe and well.
